ABOUT
I like writing code, lifting weights, climbing and driving my MX5 with the roof down.
Chances are, the person looking at this website is most interested in the "writing code"
part of that list, so I will elaborate on it further.
I have one and a half years of professional experience as an engineer working on payment
exception and investigation software, primarily using Java, Pega Smart Investigate and the
SWIFT messaging network.
I also study DTS:Software Engineering BSc (Hons) at the University of Strathclyde as part of
a degree apprenticeship program, which I am due to graduate in 2027.
Outside of work, I tinker with a wide range of
technologies. I usually
keep a project on the go outside of work and compete in the occasional hackathon (with
varying degrees of success).
I'm yet to find a specific language/ technology/ niche that I'm certain I want to specialize
in, preferring to expose myself to broad range of technologies and gain a high level
understanding of the wider computer science ecosystem whilst at the start of my career.
So far, I have found that I particularly enjoy writing code that is performance oriented,
working on projects that require knowledge of mathematics and using languages & technologies
that allow some lower level control over hardware.
