Chances are, the person looking at this website is most interested in the "writing code" part of that list, so I will elaborate on it further. I have one and a half years of professional experience as an engineer working on payment exception and investigation software, primarily using Java, Pega Smart Investigate and the SWIFT messaging network.
I also study DTS:Software Engineering BSc (Hons) at the University of Strathclyde as part of a degree apprenticeship program, which I am due to graduate in 2027.

Outside of work, I tinker with a wide range of technologies. I usually keep a project on the go outside of work and compete in the occasional hackathon (with varying degrees of success).
I'm yet to find a specific language/ technology/ niche that I'm certain I want to specialize in, preferring to expose myself to broad range of technologies and gain a high level understanding of the wider computer science ecosystem whilst at the start of my career. So far, I have found that I particularly enjoy writing code that is performance oriented, working on projects that require knowledge of mathematics and using languages & technologies that allow some lower level control over hardware.
